Last Comic Standing Live Comes to The Wilbur
WHAT: On Friday, September 26th, 2014, Last Comic Standing Live is coming to The Wilbur in Boston’s historic Theatre District.
America’s favorite summer comedy and NBC’s top-rated television comedy competition show, “Last Comic Standing, is launching a live tour, ‘Last Coming Standing Live,’ on Tuesday, September 16. ‘Last Coming Standing Live,’ will feature Season 8’s winner as well as the top four finalists in live performances locally as well as more than 49 other cities throughout the U.S.
“Last Comic Standing” began with the top 100 comics in the country, who were chosen to audition by invitation only. The five chosen by judges Roseanne Barr, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Russell Peters as the funniest and going on tour are:
NIKKI CARR
Her trials and tribulations as a woman, mother, grandmother and lesbian have provided richcomic material for Carr, and she’s woven it all into fiercely funny performances. She has been entertaining audiences for 17 years at clubs, colleges and military bases all over the UnitedStates and the world, including Iraq, Bagdad, Kuwait, London and Germany.
ROCKY LAPORTE
A former truck driver and dock worker from the south side of Chicago, Rocky LaPorte has been doing stand-up comedy for the past 26 years. A store manager on his delivery route suggestedhe try comedy because he always made her laugh, and the rest is history.
JOE MACHI
Joe Machi got into stand-up comedy because it felt great to make people laugh. Now an accomplished entertainer who has been making audiences laugh for eight years, Machi performed stand-up on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” in 2012 and won the New York’s Funniest Stand-Up competition as part of the New York Comedy Fest in 2013.
ROD MAN
Rod Man is a comedian who captures the attention of audiences immediately with his engaging wit, southern charm and gift for finding the funny in everyday life. The “Georgia boy” with a laid-back style of storytelling got hooked on comedy watching “Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam,” and seeing the likes of Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker and the late, great Bernie Mac perform. It was then he knew what he wanted to do with the rest of his life.
LACHLAN PATTERSON
At an early age, Lachlan Patterson knew he would have to use his sense of humor to get him through tough situations. At the age of 19 he performed his first show at an amateur night in his hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia. After several years spent learning the art of stand-up comedy, Patterson found his stride and began touring throughout Canada, landing at festivals like Montreal’s Just for Laughs, the Halifax Comedy Festival and the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival.
