This past weekend, Harvard University requested all non-essential large events be suspended through April 30th . This includes all public events at Sanders Theatre, which impacts our plans to host the annual St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Sojourn on Saturday, March 14th .
We are excited to let you know the performance will now take place at The Wilbur Theatre. The original concerts were scheduled for 3PM and 7:30PM. Unfortunately, because of this change in venue, the shows will need to be combined into one concert at 4pm. The new venue is a different size and layout than Sanders Theatre, therefore seating will be general admission: first-come, first-serve. Please bring the original tickets you have been assigned by Sanders Theatre to gain entry. All tickets will be honored at the Wilbur box office. If you are unable to attend, you will receive a full refund by clicking emailing tickets@fas.harvard.edu or by calling 617-496-2222.
WGBH presents its annual A St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Sojourn with Brian O’Donovan in five venues this year with six concerts total.
Since 2005, A St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Sojourn has introduced a wide range of new and familiar musicians alike to audiences eager to celebrate the holiday in the true Irish style. This year’s cast showcases exquisite musicianship from groups and individuals representing the wide range of approaches to Irish music. The Murphy Beds (Jefferson Hamer and Dublin’s Eamon O’Leary), Co. Kerry’s Clare Horgan, the twin fiddling of Nathan Gourley and Laura Feddersen, accordion player Chris Stephens, uilleann piper Torrin Ryan, dancer Kevin McCormack, choreographer/dancer Ashley Smith- Wallace, and of course Music Director Keith Murphy.
For over three decades, local, regional, and national broadcasts of Brian O’Donovan’s radio program A Celtic Sojourn have proven extraordinarily popular. This concert follows the established format of the long-running A Christmas Celtic Sojourn production, which played to over 14,000 people in Boston, Worcester, Rockport, and Providence in December.
