Justin Hayward Comes to The Wilbur
WHAT: On Friday, August 21st, 2015, Justin Hayward is coming to The Wilbur in Boston’s historic Theatre District.
Justin Hayward, the legendary voice of The Moody Blues, will be live in concert for an intimate evening with his trio at The Wilbur Theatre Friday, Aug. 21st at 8:00 p.m. The ticket price is $50.00-$65.00 and is on sale to the general public now at www.ticketmaster.com or www.wilburboston.wpengine.com.
The Spirits…Live Tour brings Hayward back to where he recorded “Spirits…Live — Live at the Buckhead Theatre, Atlanta,” a CD and DVD of his first solo performance in 17 years. The DVD, released with the CD in August 2014, also landed at #1 on the Billboard Music Video Sales chart. The show combined tracks from the ‘Spirits’ album alongside a mix of classic and rarely heard Moody Blues songs and Hayward’s worldwide hit “Forever Autumn.”
Hayward will be performing at The Wilbur Theatre with his trio, which includes show opener and English guitar sensation Mike Dawes along with vocalist Julie Ragins.
As lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for The Moody Blues, Hayward penned and sang many of the group’s mega-hits including “Nights in White Satin,” “Your Wildest Dreams,” “Tuesday Afternoon,” “Story in Your Eyes,” “Question,” “I Know You’re Out There Somewhere,” and “Ride My See-Saw.” These songs propelled his 40 year career with one of the most enduring and beloved rock bands in music history.
Still rocking in 2014, The Moody Blues have released 24 albums in a career spanning nearly five decades. They have sold more than 70 million albums, earning them 18 platinum discs and all manner of awards including Playboy “Group of the Year,” the “Golden Ticket” award for selling the most tickets at Madison Square Garden, and an Ivor Novello for Outstanding Contribution to British Music.
Individually, Hayward has received four ASCAP awards, the BMI Million Plays award for “Story in Your Eyes,” as well as numerous other songwriter awards around the world. His song “Nights in White Satin” features regularly in the all time lists of favorite songs, including being in the top ten Songs of the Millenium, voted for by the public, on BBC TV.
